Hello there all ye lovelies. I have some distressing news to share but don’t worry, there’s a happy ending to this tale.
The USPS Story
We ordered our Disney tickets just about a month ago and they were shipped a few days later. I was expecting to get them about 2 weeks ago but they spent an extended period of time “In Transit to Destination” with no location listed. It sat like that for over a week. I began to get worried because that’s $800 just sitting in limbo. Well today they finally arrived, no thanks to the USPS because this is how it came:
Do you see the rip towards the top? It was ripped over 2/3 of the way across the top of the package which makes me feel like someone opened my mail; I mean, these bubble envelopes aren’t easy to rip. Maybe it wasn’t tampered with but I can’t be trusting. I linked them straight up to our account to make sure that no one was already trying to use them and thank goodness I didn’t have to go through the hassle of harassing the post office about stolen tickets.
The happy ending here is that we are less than 2 months away from our Disney vacay!
Step Counting
I’m exhausted this week from working with a large group of extremely germ-y first graders. Most of them are sick and 2 have thrown up literally right in front of me… I’m constantly cringing and I can feel my body fighting against the bug. It’s making me more exhausted than usual so it has been hard to muster energy for workouts and being active.
I’ve decided to pick up my Fitbit to dedicate myself to one of my March goals – to get more steps in. My Fitbit isn’t totally reliable but I’ve determined that it does a better job than my phone, especially since I’m not always carrying my phone. Here’s my 7-day report for steps including my woeful weekend step count.
It’s been hard to get all my steps in even though I’m on my feet all day… I’ve been doing jogs in my apartment at night to get all my steps in. I’m hoping that this is going to be something that pays off in the long run.
Currently Reading
I’ve started reading The White Queen by Philippa Gregory and I have been enjoying it so far. It’s based on the true story of Elizabeth Woodville and her husband King Edward IV during a time of family feuding in England. I think I’m going to like it a lot… but at the same time, it’s not the happiest of historical tales and I don’t typically like sad stories. I’m not very familiar with this time period in England because I tend to love the Henry VIII story. I’ll check back in when I’m done… if I decide to finish it.
Cottage Cheese Pizza
I needed a quick meal last week and I decided to make a personal naan pizza. I was going to do a dairy free pizza and just put everything together on the pizza but I remembered that I had a little bit of cottage cheese left and I was trying to finish up most of our dairy stuff before we (well, I… but my husband doesn’t eat cottage cheese. He doesn’t even like to look at it) took a break from eating dairy. It made a delicious base and it worked out well for me because I can handle cottage cheese much better than a lot of harder cheeses.
Spring
We had a night of extremely low temps last weekend and it killed – literally killed – all the magnolias and cherry blossoms that had started coming out in our neighborhood. You have no idea how depressing this was for me and I know it sounds silly, but the spring season- where everything comes to life again after months of dreariness – is my favorite and it kills me to see it all dying before getting to enjoy it’s beauty.
I took a ride up to and around Centennial on Tuesday and I had intended to run while I was there as well but it started to rain literally as I was taking this photo so I went home and did Zumba instead.
Anniversary dating
March 8 is the day my best friend asked me to marry him 4 years ago so we had a little date night grocery shopping at BJ’s. <<—- That’s some adult quality time right there. We made a little bit more of a date out of it by going to Olive Garden for dinner. OG used to be a date night staple for us until they overhauled basically the entire menu and took out a lot of the great vegetarian options. Honestly, I’m not even sure if we’d ever go again if it wasn’t for the salad and breadsticks.
And finally a special shout-out to my awesome sis who is slaving her life away in her interior design studies to become the next Joanna Gaines… check out her talent! I’m trying to convince her to start a blog so she can put all her projects and creative ideas out there but I haven’t gotten anywhere. Yet. (Hint hint Hanna.)
Have you gotten sick at all this year?
-My family has been playing tag with the illness and I know each of the kids has had it like 2-3 times already. I’m crossing my fingers and knocking on wood to keep from getting sick.
Any mail horror stories? Has anyone ever stolen some mail or a package from your doorstep?!
What’s your favorite way to have pizza? Do you homemake it or buy it?
How do you get all your steps in if you’re counting them?
Should Hanna start a blog?
I’m linking with Amanda from Running With Spoons for this post.
